Room to ride. Space to grow.

Rider on a grey horse in a tree-lined Pegasus arena

Our Grounds at Pegasus Riding Academy

Five riding spaces in Dairy Flat, Auckland. Visits and lessons by appointment.

Strictly 10 km/h on the driveway

Horses use our working-farm driveway. Speeding can spook horses and cause serious injury or damage. The limit applies even when running late.

Horses always have right of way. Follow at their pace and stay around 20–30 metres back, roughly 4–5 car lengths. Do not overtake unless directed by the team. Slow for oncoming horses until they have passed.

Top Arena

20 × 40 m

A quieter, more enclosed training arena where beginners can settle in and experienced riders can focus on the finer details.

  • A flexible layout for targeted work, with jumps that can be set for ponies or horses.
  • Our exam ground for entry-level riding assessments.

Showjumping Arena

40 × 80 m

Find your rhythm on a full-size course and take the next step towards competition. With room for 10–16 jumps, this arena brings the lines, turns and decisions of a show into everyday training.

  • The course stays set for horse jumping; selected parts can also be used for pony training.
  • Regular training shows give riders a chance to practise their preparation and ringcraft.

Dressage Arena

30 × 60 m

A focused space for private lessons and small groups, with no more than three riders at a time. Work on balance, accuracy and the details that make a partnership feel effortless.

  • Used as the warm-up arena on training-show days.

Grass Arena

Approximately 30 × 50 m

A summer favourite, offering a welcome change of surface for horses’ feet. Grass retains less heat than sand and brings less dust than a sand arena when it dries out.

  • Use depends on ground conditions and the team’s guidance on the day.

Lunge Pen

20 m circle

A little space for some big first moments. Many Pegasus riders have found their first canter here on the lunge, with the coach helping them build confidence one stride at a time.

  • Popular for beginner and entry-level lessons—and for riders of any level learning something new in a more contained space.
  • Our team also uses the pen for groundwork, fitness and behaviour training, including the first stages of bringing horses back into work before a rider is in the saddle.

P7 · Winter Parking

Beside Follies Way

To the left-hand side of the small green roundabout on this map, beside Follies Way. This is our parking option when the grass parking area is wet during winter.

  • Follow the team’s directions and keep the driveway and road access clear.

P8 · Summer Parking

Between grass and lunge

Beside the Grass Arena, between the grass and lunge areas. Follow your current arrival instructions and the team’s directions on the day.

Whenever a horse is inside the Grass Arena, keep the gate into this parking area shut. Close it immediately after passing through.

P6 · Top Arena Parking

Follow the driveway down

Follow the driveway down towards the upper-left corner of the house beside the Top Arena on this map. Park where you will not block anyone.

  • Keep the driveway and access for other vehicles clear.
  • Do not block the gate into the paddock beside the parking area. Horses use this gate to walk in and out.

Map boundaries and parking positions are approximate guides; follow your current arrival instructions.
